I was reading the Star Ledger this morning and, for some reason, found this article very amusing. Maybe because I know people who have seemed players, but haven't said anything to them as to not "disturb" them. That's the New Jersey way. :)

I wish they would promote the players more, as I've said tme and time again, but I'd so much rather have them play better than be able to watch an interview with them. I've grown so used to it that when the team does put something out there, I don't take it for granted.

And hey, who knew Patty was such a comedian? :P

And because my newspaper of choice is based in Newark and the Rangers' beat writer is blogging for the Devils, I get a funny Shanny tidbit:

--

On a complete side note, it's a sunny 65 degrees outside, with the temperature rising to 70 tomorrow, my house smells of brownies, and the Devils play the Rangers tonight (and no, I didn't forget that we only won one game against them all year, but I also didn't forget that we swept them out of the 1st round two seasons ago. :P). What could be better? :)

Colby Armstrong and Erik Christensen were traded away from Sidney Crosby to the Thrashers.

Here comes the onslaught of angsty slash.

Off to Indianapolis for a band thing until Monday. See everyone after the weekend! :)

IT'S MY 18TH BIRTHDAY!

Today, I can legally:

-Drive in New York City
-Drive more than one person not a family member in my car
-Buy and cash lottery tickets
-Buy cigarettes, except for in Connecticut, New Jersey, Alabama, New York, and some other state
-Buy porn
-Work at a bar/Serve alcohol
-Go to a strip club (or topless bar, since full nudie bars are illegal in New Jersey)
-Vote
-Well, not really a law, but I'll go to jail if I'm arrested, and not juvenile hall
-I get a new license picture

Turning 18 is exciting. :D

I'm bearing my soul to the world.

The summer of 2006, I met a guy at the summer program I attended at USC. He became my best friend and, eventually, my first kiss. Once the summer ended, we kept talking, but, quite obviously, it was different. I'd like to think he became a different person, but maybe it was the both of us. It wouldn't be fair to just blame him. Anyways, I feel like I've finally reached a point where I can put it all into perspective (a year and a half later), and so I've written a little thing based on it. I'm hoping to build upon it, but please..

From today's Bergen Record..

'As expected, left wing Jay Pandolfo (pubic bone ligament) did not accompany the team Sunday when it left for its three-game Western Canada trip.'

That's embarassing.

On a side note, I got into Buffalo State, AND my birthday is on Friday, AND we won last night in wonderful fashion, AND it was against the Flyers! Life is gracious. :D

The weather here has been grey and cold (in the low 30's) for a week or so, and now, my body is starting to react to it. I've got the beginnings of a cold that shouldn't be coming. To make matters worse, my 18th birthday is a week from Friday. Hopefully by then it'll be gone, but still, I feel the need to pout. *hmph*

Oh, and it seems as though losing one game has set the Devils off, and now they've forgotten everything that made them wonderful. Granted, I saw the end coming during the Atlanta game. I'm a mind reader in that way. :P

--

Also, a plug; saw Spring Awakening yesterday, and I cannot say more positive things about a Broadway show. Now, I've seen many shows (pluses to living by the City), and this was just wonderful. The script is beautifully written, the songs were all sung with no out of tune-ness, no voice crackings, just wonderfully and how they were meant to be sung. The acting..I felt I was watching a real-life situation unfolding. What the characters felt, I was feeling. The only negative was that I was sitting next to my friend, who constantly asked me what was going on. That snapped me back to reality more than once. :P But overall, I give it a rating of 6 stars out of 5.

Getting into college shouldn't be this stressful.

I'm having a crisis.

Originally, I only applied to University of Southern California (my first choice) and SUNY Buffalo State College. I stayed at USC as most of you know for a month and absolutely loved everything about it. I have visited BSC numerous times, as well as attending a Sabres game (it was like going to a game in Canada. Crazy. :D), and liked the city as well as the campus. Only lately, I've been reading negative comments on BSC; the food is overpriced, the campus is not very safe, the school isn't non-commuter friendly, and students aren't the brightest (it's a good school, but not as good as it's counter-part, SUNY Buffalo ((they don't have the major I want)), etc.
My main issue with USC is that it's
A) 3,000 miles from home
B) I've heard people say that a lot of people with a lot of money go there, and that scene is not me (which is normal, considering it's a private school costing a ton of $$.
C) It's in LA, not my favorite city.

So, I've looked at San Jose State (too much of a commuter school), University of Central Florida (I don't know anyone in Florida), University of Nevada- Las Vegas (same as UCF), UC San Diego (not a specialized broadcast journalism major), San Diego State (too much of a party school), among others. I've considered BU (only took 1 SAT II subject test), Syracuse (way too much snow), some of the North Carolina schools ($$ and same as Florida)..But my question is, does anyone else have any other ideas of schools with good journalism programs? I'm really running low on options and starting to stress a twee. :)

I decided I'm going to start writing in here more. Not too personal, just to give a glimpse of my life, now that I have more than 2 LJ friends. :)

I got to thinking, if I left and came back, would people remember me? Not that I'm feeling morbid or need that validation (maybe I do, but hey, what can I say?), but do I leave impressions on people enough that they remember me long after we've parted? I'd like to think so. *shrugs* I think it's this fic I'm writing about Dave Clarkson. It's cathartic in a way, but forcing me to rethink a lot of things. *sigh*

Maybe it's just me facing the music that yes, I will be the ripe old age of 18 on the 21st, and I will no longer be able to blame anything on my youth. I'll need to think of new excuses. :)

--

I got a meme from alikat52003  - She requested me to write the 1st ten songs on my playlist beginning with C. :)

Crackers by Maia Hirasawa
County Line by Sugarland
Coffee and Cigarettes by Augustana
Can I Sing You to Sleep by Corey Crowder
Come Home Soon by Corey Crowder
Cowboy, Take Me Away by the Dixie Chicks
 Cry by Faith Hill
Compère Guilleri from the movie soundtrack of Les Choristes
Caresse sur l'Ocean from the movie soundtrack of Les Choristes
Cerf-Volant from the movie soundtrack of Les Choristes

I think it's funny that the last three were French songs. :)

I feel like I've been stuck in a rut as of late; I can only seem to write in 2nd person and anything I do write is how I feel, nothing more. Nothing about what I've written seems like fiction so therefore, how can I call it a fic? I hate giving these stories, if I may, names and identities where they're my experiences and feelings. But at the same time, I want the ability to just write fic and no more of this 'story' crap. I think it's all the college application filling out I've been doing, since I've been writing and thinking so much about myself: what I've done, what I want, etc., that I've stopped thinking in terms of telling someone else's story and turning that into a fic. This year (being senior year and the start of my 'real life,' if I may), I've done a lot of analyzing in how I've handled certain situations, and writing them out gives me a sense of perspective. I'm not saying that writing about myself has been..not beneficial, or anything. If anything, I've learned how to explain and develop feelings a bit more. But everything I write lately is poetry in a story form. In addition to that, all of my old stuff I've been reading, I think it's shit. Maybe that's a sign of me growing as a writer, or maybe I'm just in this 'I can only read and write poetic stories that are in 2nd person' rut.

In any case, I've written more poetic 2nd person stories. Here is one:

This is real life how I'm feeling at this moment, talking to 'he who inspires almost every fic I've written' and just wishing:

Just say yes. Just say that you need me, just say that you want me, just say that you have to have me. Just say yes. Just say that you’re coming home, just say that she’s out of your life, just that that you’re alone. Just say yes. Just say that you missed me, just say that you think about me, just say that you’re incomplete without me. Just say yes. Just say that you feel like I do, just say that you can’t be with anyone else, just say that life is too short to live alone. Just say yes. Just say that you need our key again, just say that you’ve booked a plane ticket, just say that it’s all set. Just say yes. Just come home. Just come back. Just miss me. Just want me. Just need me.

Just say yes.

I challenge you!

I'm writing college essays right now (only one more left! Yay!) and am having an interesting dilemma (aside from going insane. I never realized how hard writing about yourself was). Every college will give you either a word count or a character count to abide by, and this, being the writer I am, has created a multitude of problems, but has gotten me thinking about fics and such. So, I'm issuing a challenge.

Write a fic in 100 words.

Whether it's porn, angst, gen, or fluff, see if you can do it. No more, no less. Exactly 100 words. No limits on pairing, though you all know who I like (and if you don't..*points to icon). ;)

Post it here when you're done, and we'll find something to do with them all. :)

I just had to post these videos because David Clarkson is amazing in every way. Plus, he's just..you'll just have to watch these. It also helps that he's very pretty and has a bit of a lisp. :P
